EAGAN, Minn. - The Vikings have agreed to terms with defensive lineman Dean Lowry, the team announced Friday.
Vikings fans likely remember the former Packer who has appeared in 13 Border Battles since his selection by Green Bay in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Lowry has started in nine of those contests, totaling 26 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, six quarterback hits, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery in the rivalry series.
All told, Lowry has appeared in 111 regular-season games with 80 starts. He's totaled 252 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, 34 quarterback hits, 16 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries (one returned 62 yards for touchdown in 2017), a forced fumble and an interception.
Lowry played for Vikings Assistant Head Coach Mike Pettine from 2018-20 (as Packers defensive coordinator) and overlapped with Vikings Outside Linebackers Coach/Pass Rush Specialist Mike Smith in Green Bay from 2019-21.
A native of Rockford, Illinois, Lowry played at Northwestern and made 33 starts for the Wildcats from 2012-15. He earned Second-Team All-Big Ten honors in 2015 and capped his career with 134 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three interceptions, 21 passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. He returned a touchdown 19 yards for a touchdown against Maine in 2013.
The deal provides help for a Vikings defensive line that experienced the departure of Dalvin Tomlinson to the Browns when free agency opened.
